If you joined the Friends Life (formerly Friends Provident) AVC arrangement then please see the

You can choose from a range of investment options.
You can change the way you invest your AVCs as often as you like.
Over time, the aim is that
you build up the amount of money in your AVC account. This is different
to building up money in a normal current or savings account, because you
can only use the money in your AVC account to buy extra benefits for you
or your dependants when you retire. You cannot use your AVC account to buy
extra benefits before you start to receive your Alstom pension.
When you retire, you can
use the money that has built up in your AVC account to buy extra benefits. If you want to know more about the AVC scheme then please see the
